9085-26-1 Usage
Description
CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE SODIUM SALT, also known as Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC), is an anionic cellulose ether derived from natural cellulose. It is a white or slightly yellow flocculent fiber powder or white powder, odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. CMC is readily soluble in water, forming a clear solution with a certain viscosity, and is insoluble in organic solvents. The solution is neutral or slightly alkaline and stable at a wide range of pH levels.
Uses
Used in Detergent Industry:
CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE SODIUM SALT is used as a soil-suspending agent in detergents for its ability to keep soil particles suspended in the wash water, preventing them from redepositing onto fabrics.
Used in Paint Industry:
CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE SODIUM SALT is used as a suspending agent in latex paints to help maintain the stability and uniformity of the paint formulation.
Used in Adhesive Industry:
CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE SODIUM SALT is used as an adhesive due to its ability to form strong bonds between surfaces and its compatibility with various materials.
Used in Food Industry:
CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE SODIUM SALT is used as a stabilizer in food products such as ice cream to improve texture, prevent ice crystal formation, and extend shelf life.
Used in Various Applications:
CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE SODIUM SALT is used as an adhesive, thickener, suspending agent, emulsifier, dispersant, stabilizer, and sizing agent in various industries due to its versatile properties and compatibility with other substances. It is the most widely used and convenient cellulose ether, often referred to as "industrial monosodium glutamate".
Preparation
Sodium carboxymethylcellulose is prepared from alkali cellulose and sodium
monochloroacetate. The reaction may be represented as follows:
The extent of carboxymethylation may be regulated; commercial materials
generally have a degree of substitution within the range 0.5-0.85.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 9085-26-1 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,8 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9085-26:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*8)+(3*5)+(2*2)+(1*6)=111
111 % 10 = 1
So 9085-26-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
