CIVET, also known as Civet, is a glandular secretion produced by both sexes of the civet cat (Viverridae). It is a yellowish to brownish, honey-like paste with a distinct odor that is strong and putrid when undiluted but becomes sweet and pleasant when diluted. The secretion is taken from the animals' pouches at regular intervals, and it darkens when exposed to light. CIVET contains various macrocyclic ketones, such as civetone, cyclohexaand cycloheptadecanone, and (Z)-6-cycloheptadecenone, as well as traces of indole and skatole that contribute to its animal note. It has a distinctly different odor from musk and was formerly a versatile ingredient in fine fragrances.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 68916-26-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,8,9,1 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 68916-26:
(7*6)+(6*8)+(5*9)+(4*1)+(3*6)+(2*2)+(1*6)=167
167 % 10 = 7
So 68916-26-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
