39300-45-3 Usage

Description

Dinocap, also known as 2,4-dinitro-1-methylheptyl-3,5-dimethylbenzene or 2,6-dinitro-1-ethylhexyl-3,5-dimethylbenzene, is a dark brown liquid with a boiling point of 138 to 140°C, vapor pressure of 5.3×10^-6 mPa, and a Kow LogP of 4.54. It is nearly insoluble in water and is used as a fungicide and acaricide in the agricultural industry.

Uses

Used in Agricultural Industry:
Dinocap is used as a foliar fungicide and miticide for controlling powdery mildew and limiting mites in apples and grapes crops. It is primarily used in Europe, the Middle East, and northern Africa. Additionally, it is employed to control powdery mildew on fruit, vegetables, and ornamentals.
Used in Regulatory Approvals:
DAS, the registrant of dinocap, aims to support tolerances for dinocap residues in/on apples and grapes to permit legal importation of these commodities into the U.S. However, it is not approved for use in EU countries and is not currently registered in the U.S. There are 17 global suppliers for Dinocap.

Air & Water Reactions

Nearly insoluble in water. Hydrolysis of the ester group occurs with alkaline pHs.

Reactivity Profile

A dinitrophenyl derivative.

Safety Profile

Poison by ingestion and intravenous routes. An experimental teratogen. Other experimental reproductive effects. Mutation data reported. Questionable carcinogen with experimental neoplastigenic data. See NITRATES. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx.

Toxicity evaluation

Dinocap shows moderate acute toxicity to mammals (acute oral LD50 in rats of 1,000 to 5,000 mg/kg) with moderate dermal irritation but substantial eye irritation in rabbits (Rohm & Haas MSDS C&P MSDS reference listing; MDL MSDS database listing). Dinocap is teratogenic to mice and hamsters at 10 to 100 mg/kg/day (48–51), although no evidence of teratogenic effects were seen in rabbits (Rohm & Haas MSDS C&P MSDS reference listing). Dinocap is classified as “toxic” to fish but is listed as “nontoxic” to bees (52).

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 39300-45-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,9,3,0 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 39300-45:
(7*3)+(6*9)+(5*3)+(4*0)+(3*0)+(2*4)+(1*5)=103
103 % 10 = 3
So 39300-45-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
