Usage

General Description

2-AMINO-6,7-DIHYDROTHIAZOLO[5,4-C]PYRIDIN-4(5H)-ONE, also known as rufinamide, is an antiepileptic drug used to treat seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy that often begins in childhood. Rufinamide works by inhibiting the spread of abnormal electrical activity in the brain, reducing the frequency and severity of seizures. It is thought to act by prolonging the inactive state of voltage-gated sodium channels in the brain, thereby decreasing the likelihood of epileptic activity. Rufinamide has been shown to be effective in reducing seizure frequency and improving overall quality of life in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Common side effects of rufinamide include drowsiness, dizziness, and loss of coordination, and it should not be used in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to the drug.
