Description

Sodium Levothyroxine, also known as L-Thyroxine sodium hydrate, is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine. It plays a crucial role in maintaining metabolic homeostasis and is synthesized and stored as amino acid residues of thyroglobulin, the major protein component of the thyroid follicular colloid. The synthesis and secretion of Sodium Levothyroxine are regulated by the pituitary hormone (TSH) and is deiodinated in peripheral tissues to the active metabolite, liothyronine.
