Description
Alexidine Dihydrochloride is an amphipathic bisbiguanide with a structure consisting of two (2-ethylhexyl)guanide units linked by a hexamethylene bridge. It is known for its antibacterial and antiplaque properties.
Uses
Used in Dental Industry:
Alexidine Dihydrochloride is used as an antibacterial and antiplaque agent for preventing and treating dental issues such as plaque and gingivitis. It is effective against various bacteria, including Streptococcus mutans, Actinomyces ciscosus, and Actinomyces naesludii, which are commonly associated with dental problems.
Originator
Alexidine ,Science Lab.
Manufacturing Process
A mixture of 16 g (0.09 mole) 1,1'-hexamethylene-bis(3-cyanoguanidine) and
20 d (0.12 mole) 2-ethylhexylamine hydrochloride is heated at 150-155°C for
3 hours. The mixture is cooled and the product is dissolved in 75 ml of hot
water. The solution is treated with activated charcoal. 1,1'-Hexamethylene-bis-
(5-(ethylhexyl)biguanide) is recrystalluized from methanol-ether, melting point
220.6-223.4°C.
Therapeutic Function
Antiseptic
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 22573-93-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,2,5,7 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 22573-93:
(7*2)+(6*2)+(5*5)+(4*7)+(3*3)+(2*9)+(1*3)=109
109 % 10 = 9
So 22573-93-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Dentifrice containing a poly(hydroxypropyl ether) non-ionic surfactant and a specified cationic polymer
-
, (2008/06/13)
Dentifrice containing, in combination, (A) a poly(hydroxypropyl ether) nonionic surfactant, and (B) a cationic polymer selected from the group consisting of (i) a vinylpyrrolidone/dialkylaminoalkyl or -hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate, quaternized or nonquaternized and (ii) a cationic polysaccharide. This dentifrice is characterized by good foamability, pleasant taste and it does not attack the buccal mucosae and the gums.
