18695-01-7 Usage
Description
ALPHA-APO-OXYTETRACYCLINE is a degradation product of oxytetracycline, formed under acidic conditions. It is a khaki-colored crystalline powder with absolute stereochemistry unknown. ALPHA-APO-OXYTETRACYCLINE is generated through an initial dehydration to anhydrooxytetracycline, followed by an internal cyclisation of the C5-OH to the C12 ketone. The resulting cleavage of the C12-C12a bond produces two isomers, αand β-apooxytetracycline.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
ALPHA-APO-OXYTETRACYCLINE is used as a stability indicator for oxytetracycline. It serves as an important standard for monitoring the stability of oxytetracycline, ensuring the quality and efficacy of the antibiotic in pharmaceutical formulations.
Used in Quality Control and Research:
ALPHA-APO-OXYTETRACYCLINE is used as a reference compound in quality control processes and research studies. Its role in these applications is to provide a benchmark for assessing the stability and degradation of oxytetracycline, which is crucial for maintaining the safety and effectiveness of the antibiotic in various treatments.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 18695-01-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,8,6,9 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 18695-01:
(7*1)+(6*8)+(5*6)+(4*9)+(3*5)+(2*0)+(1*1)=137
137 % 10 = 7
So 18695-01-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
