Usage

Description

Direct Orange 46 is a red light orange dye that is soluble in water, resulting in a golden brown color, and slightly soluble in ethanol, producing a subtle stitching light yellow. In strong sulfuric acid, it appears as dark blue with a golden yellow diluted form. When dissolved in an aqueous solution of strong hydrochloric acid, it turns yellow olive brown and forms a precipitate. In a sodium hydroxide solution, it forms a brown light orange precipitate.

Uses

Used in Textile Industry:
Direct Orange 46 is used as a dye for cotton, silk, wool, and their blended fabrics for dyeing and printing. It provides good exhaust dyeing properties.
Used in Leather and Paper Industry:
Direct Orange 46 is also used for leather and paper shading.
Used in Organic Pigments:
The heavy metal salt of Direct Orange 46 can be used as organic pigments.

Preparation

in reflux conditions, sodium hydroxide solution in (E)-2-(2-sulfo-4-nitrostyryl)-5-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid sodium salt with 4-Aminobenzenesulfonic acid sodium diazo with aniline coupled with product heating (40215). In reflux conditions, sodium hydroxide solution in (E)-2-(2-sulfo-4-nitrostyryl)-5-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid??sodium salt with ?4-Aminobenzenesulfonic acid?sodium diazotization and a product matches m-Toluidine, molecular than 1:1. The proportion of 75 under heating together (40220).
