and dantrolene 8 were prepared by a
zero-waste procedure without no extra-reagents (to further
activate the reactants), additives or catalysts. Even if there is
still much to explore in the perspective of a large-scale
manufacturing process of these APIs by mechanochemistry,
the syntheses described here are good examples and prefigure
the way towards a more sustainable production of APIs at
industrial level in the near future. In this regard, twin-screw
extrusion (TSE) technology, already applied to the preparation
of co-crystals, metal-organic frameworks, for organic
condensation reactions43 and for organic light-emitting diode
(OLED)44 constitute the tools to change the way in which
chemistry can be conducted.
