method. We attribute this to an abnormally high carbon content (from
adventitious carbon of unknown origin). However, the close
agreement of both TGA and elemental analysis performed on distinct
batches of 3 suggest that these methods provide the correct values.
That said, it should be noted that this incorrect calibration has no
bearing on the energies of the photoelectron peaks.

be less reproducible. A detailed comparison of the various elemental
ratios of the nanoparticles indicates that the expected elemental ratios
for the ligand are not exactly preserved. It is noted that, in many cases,
huge and highly variable quantities of solvent are reportedly retained in
