The kinetics of transformations of Samarium complexes with mesogenic cyanophenyls in low-temperature cocondensates
Low-temperature samarium cocondensates with the 4-pentyl-4′-cyanobiphenyl (L), 4-octyl-4′-cyanobiphenyl (L′), and 4-pentyl-4′-cyanophenylpyridine (L″) mesogens were studied by IR and UV spectroscopy in the temperature range 80-300 K. The Sm-L system was found to contain 1:1 and 1:2 complexes stable at low temperatures. The second complex transformed into the first one in a solid cyanophenyl matrix at 170-210 K. The kinetics of the transformation was found to be polychronous.
