Synthesis of Gossypin derivatives as potential anticancer and anti-inflammatory agents
Gossypin-a potential lead from nature is isolated and a series of its derivatives (SGGOS 1-9) were synthesized and characterized by IR, 1H NMR, mass spectral and elemental analyses. The in vitro cytotoxic activity on HT29 and HeLa cell lines, and in vivo anti-inflammatory activities of the compounds were evaluated. The synthesized variants have shown good anticancer and anti-inflammatory activities compared to gossypin.
