66004-57-7 Usage

Description

Somatotropin (176-191), also known as growth hormone, is a protein hormone consisting of approximately 190 amino acids. It is synthesized and secreted by somatotroph cells in the anterior pituitary gland and plays a crucial role in regulating various complex physiological processes, such as growth and metabolism. Due to its significant impact on growth and development, somatotropin (176-191) has garnered considerable interest as a therapeutic agent for both humans and animals.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Somatotropin (176-191) is used as a therapeutic agent for promoting growth and development in humans and animals. It is particularly beneficial for individuals with growth hormone deficiencies or those experiencing growth-related issues. The hormone can also be utilized in veterinary medicine to enhance the growth and development of livestock.
Used in Sports and Fitness Industry:
Somatotropin (176-191) is used as a performance-enhancing substance by athletes and bodybuilders. It helps increase muscle mass, improve physical performance, and accelerate recovery from injuries. However, it is essential to note that the use of somatotropin (176-191) for such purposes is often prohibited and can lead to severe health risks and legal consequences.
Used in Research and Development:
Somatotropin (176-191) is used as a research tool in various scientific studies and experiments. It aids researchers in understanding the complex mechanisms of growth and metabolism, as well as the potential therapeutic applications of growth hormone in treating various medical conditions.
Used in Cosmetic Industry:
Somatotropin (176-191) is used as an anti-aging ingredient in some cosmetic products. It is believed to help improve skin elasticity, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and promote a more youthful appearance. However, the effectiveness and safety of using somatotropin (176-191) in cosmetic products are still under investigation and may vary depending on the individual.

Indications

Somatotropin is indicated for the treatment of pediatric patients who have growth failure due to an inadequate secretion of endogenous growth hormone, short stature associated with Turner syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), idiopathic short stature (ISS), short stature or growth failure in short stature homeobox-containing gene (SHOX) deficiency, and short stature born small for gestational age (SGA). It is indicated for the treatment of growth failure in children associated with chronic kidney disease up to the time of renal transplantation. It is also indicated for adults with adult-onset growth hormone deficiency, either alone or associated with multiple hormone deficiencies (hypopituitarism), as a result of pituitary disease, hypothalamic disease, surgery, radiation therapy, or trauma. It is also used to treat childhood-onset growth hormone deficiency in adults due to congenital, genetic, acquired, or idiopathic causes.

Pharmacokinetics

Somatotropin induces growth in nearly every tissue and organ in the body. It stimulates linear growth and cartilaginous growth of long bones. In children with short stature, growth hormone increases both the number and size of muscle cells. It also promotes the growth of internal organs, and it also increases red cell mass. By promoting nitrogen retention, growth hormone increases cellular protein synthesis. Growth hormone also retains potassium and phosphorus in the serum, which may be the result of cell growth. Growth hormone stimulates the synthesis of chondroitin sulfate and collagen and increases the urinary excretion of hydroxyproline. It has negligible effects on serum calcium levels. Although increased calcium excretion in the urine is observed, calcium absorption from the intestine is simultaneously enhanced. In end-stage renal disease, growth hormone was shown to improve several nutritional parameters, such as increases in serum insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), serum albumin, and transferrin, as well as a reduction in blood urea nitrogen.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 66004-57-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,6,0,0 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 66004-57:
(7*6)+(6*6)+(5*0)+(4*0)+(3*4)+(2*5)+(1*7)=107
107 % 10 = 7
So 66004-57-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
