6487-48-5 Usage
Description
Potassium oxalate monohydrate is the monohydrate form of potassium oxalate, a strong dicarboxylic acid that naturally occurs in many plants and vegetables. It is produced inside the body during the metabolism of glyoxylic acid or ascorbic acid and is used as a chelating agent, purifying agent, precipitating agent, grinding agent, rust remover, bleaching agent, scale remover, and in water treatment. It also has applications in determining the calcium content and other heavy metals and reducing agents in analytic chemistry and in the preparation of SBA-15 (nanostructured SiO2) supported catalyst.

Purification Methods
Recrystallise it from hot water. It forms various K + oxalic acid salts [e.g. potassium hydrogen oxalate KH(C2O4)—see above, and KH3(C2O4)2 which is, surprisingly, called potassium tetraoxalate—see below]. [Beilstein 2 H 513, 2 I 224, 2 II, 485, 2 III 1552, 2 IV 1823.]
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 6487-48-5 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 6,4,8 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 6487-48:
(6*6)+(5*4)+(4*8)+(3*7)+(2*4)+(1*8)=125
125 % 10 = 5
So 6487-48-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
