Description

Laurolitsine, an isoquinoline alkaloid, is a noraporphine derivative characterized by the presence of hydroxy groups at positions 2 and 9, and methoxy groups at positions 1 and 10. It has been isolated from various plant sources, such as Litsea glutinosa and Lindera chunii. Laurolitsine exhibits a unique property of swelling at 115-118°C before melting and is dextrorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D +102.5° (EtOH). It can form a picrate as yellow needles with a melting point of 212°C (dec.) and a picrolonate with a melting point of 239°C (dec.). The N-methyl derivative of Laurolitsine is identical to boldine.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Laurolitsine is used as a pharmaceutical compound for its inhibitory activity against HIV-1 integrase. This makes it a potential candidate for the development of antiretroviral drugs, particularly in the treatment of HIV/AIDS.
Used in Traditional Medicine:
Laurolitsine, being an alkaloid extracted from Polyalthia longifolia var. pendula, may have potential applications in traditional medicine, where it could be utilized for its various biological activities and therapeutic properties.
Used in Chemical Research:
Due to its unique structural features and biological activities, Laurolitsine can be used as a subject of study in chemical research. This may lead to the discovery of new compounds with similar or improved properties, further expanding its applications in various fields.
Used in Drug Synthesis:
Laurolitsine's structural characteristics make it a valuable starting material for the synthesis of new drugs, particularly in the development of compounds targeting HIV-1 integrase and other related enzymes.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 5890-18-6 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 5,8,9 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 5890-18:
(6*5)+(5*8)+(4*9)+(3*0)+(2*1)+(1*8)=116
116 % 10 = 6
So 5890-18-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
