General Description
4,6-Dihydroxynicotinic acid, also known as Aleglitazar, is an organic compound and a hydroxypyridine that is pyridine-4,6-diol in which each of the hydrogens at positions 3 and 5 is replaced by a carboxy group. It is an agent with hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activity used to improve glycemic control and serum lipid levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Though it has undergone clinical trials, it is not currently marketed for use due to its associated risks and severe side effects.
