Description
(17-beta)-Estra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,17-diol 3-(bis(2-chloroethyl)carbamate) 17-(dihydrogenphosphate) disodium salt, also known as Estramustine phosphate sodium (Emcyt), is a derivative of estradiol that contains a nor-nitrogen mustard group. It is an organic sodium salt and functions as an inhibitor of microtubule function by binding to microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) and tubulin. Estramustine phosphate destabilizes microtubules, induces cell cycle arrest in mitosis, and induces apoptosis in certain cancer cells. The metabolites of this compound have anti-androgenic effects.
Uses
Used in Anticancer Applications:
(17-beta)-Estra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,17-diol 3-(bis(2-chloroethyl)carbamate) 17-(dihydrogenphosphate) disodium salt is used as an antineoplastic agent for the treatment of prostatic carcinoma. It binds estradiol receptors irreversibly and is effective against prostate cancer by inhibiting microtubule function and inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells.
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
(17-beta)-Estra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,17-diol 3-(bis(2-chloroethyl)carbamate) 17-(dihydrogenphosphate) disodium salt is used as a pharmaceutical compound for the development of formulations containing estramustine phosphate, which are used in the palliative treatment of prostate cancer. (17-beta)-Estra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,17-diol 3-(bis(2-chloroethyl)carbamate) 17-(dihydrogenphosphate) disodium salt's unique mechanism of action and ability to overcome resistance to other microtubule inhibitors make it a valuable asset in the fight against cancer.
Brand Name:
Emcyt (Pharmacia & Upjohn) is the brand name for (17-beta)-Estra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,17-diol 3-(bis(2-chloroethyl)carbamate) 17-(dihydrogenphosphate) disodium salt, which is available in 140-mg capsules for the treatment of prostate cancer.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 52205-73-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,2,2,0 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 52205-73:
(7*5)+(6*2)+(5*2)+(4*0)+(3*5)+(2*7)+(1*3)=89
89 % 10 = 9
So 52205-73-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
