Lentinan is an immunostimulant β-1,6; β-1,3-D-glucan isolated from the edible mushroom, Lentinus edodes, which is commonly known as the shiitake mushroom. This mushroom is native to Japan and China. Lentinan possesses antitumor properties and is currently approved, in combination with the cytostatic tegafur, for the treatment of gastric cancer.Uses
