The invention relates to the technical field of drug synthesis, and particularly relates to a method for preparing a key intermediate dimemorfan of a nonaddictive central antitussive dimemorfan phosphate. The method is characterized by comprising the following steps in sequence: using (S)-1-(4-methylbenzyl)-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydroisoquinoline-L-mandelate as a starting raw material, and adding analkali to neutralize for removing mandelic acid; afterwards, adding a formylation reagent to obtain an intermediate (S)-1-(4-methylbenzyl)-N-formyl-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydroisoquinoline; afterwards,adding a cyclization reagent to carry out a cyclization reaction, so a to obtain an intermediate 3-methyl-17-formyldextromethorphan; afterwards, carrying out a reduction reaction or hydrolyzing, and then carrying out a methylation reaction, so that dimemorfan is obtained. The method provided by the invention is not only short in preparation cycle, but also, more importantly, is used for greatly improving a product yield, and the impurity content is obviously reduced.
