3564-14-5 Usage
Description
Mordant Black 3 is a synthetic azo dye that belongs to the class of mordant dyes. It is characterized by its ability to form a complex with metal ions, which gives it its distinctive color and properties. Mordant Black 3 is known for its excellent solubility in water and various organic solvents, as well as its high affinity for metal ions.
Uses
Used in Textile Industry:
Mordant Black 3 is used as a dye for coloring textiles, particularly in the dyeing of cotton, wool, and silk. It is favored for its ability to form a strong complex with metal ions, which enhances the colorfastness of the dyed fabric. The dye is also known for its good light fastness, perspiration fastness, and water fastness, making it suitable for various applications in the textile industry.
Used in Analytical Chemistry:
Mordant Black 3 is used as a titration indicator in analytical chemistry, particularly for the determination of metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, manganese, and zinc. Its ability to form complexes with metal ions allows for accurate measurement of water hardness and other related parameters.
Used in Leather Industry:
Mordant Black 3 is also used in the leather industry for dyeing and tanning processes. Its high affinity for metal ions and excellent solubility make it an ideal choice for imparting color and improving the durability of leather products.
Standard:
Mordant Black 3 meets various international standards for colorfastness and performance, as outlined below:
Ironing Fastness: ISO 4-5, AATCC 4
Light Fastness: ISO 6, AATCC 6
Perspiration Fastness: ISO 4-5, AATCC 4-5
Water Fastness: ISO 4, AATCC 4
Alkali Resistance: ISO 5, AATCC 5
Acid Resistance: ISO 5, AATCC 5
These standards ensure that Mordant Black 3 provides consistent and reliable performance across different applications and industries.

Purification Methods
Free it from metallic impurities by three precipitations from aqueous solution by addition of HCl. The precipitated dye is dried at 60o under vacuum and converted into the Na salt with the calculated amount of alkali. It is an indicator in the complexometry of Al, Fe and Zr. [Beilstein 16 III 319.]
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 3564-14-5 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,5,6 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3564-14:
(6*3)+(5*5)+(4*6)+(3*4)+(2*1)+(1*4)=85
85 % 10 = 5
So 3564-14-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
