31008-18-1 Usage

Description

Magnolin is a lignan extract from Magnoliae Flos, a major component of Magnolia flos (Shin-Yi), which displays anti-asthma and anti-inflammatory activity. It inhibits the Ras/ERKs/RSK2 signaling axis by targeting the active pocket of ERK1 and ERK2 with IC50s of 87 nM and 16.5 nM, respectively.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Magnolin is used as an anti-asthma and anti-inflammatory agent for its ability to inhibit the Ras/ERKs/RSK2 signaling axis, which plays a crucial role in asthma and inflammatory responses.
Used in Drug Development:
Magnolin is used as a potential therapeutic candidate for the development of drugs targeting the Ras/ERKs/RSK2 signaling axis, which is implicated in various diseases, including asthma and inflammation.

in vitro

Magnolin is a natural compound abundantly found in Magnolia flos, which has been traditionally used in oriental medicine to treat headaches, nasal congestion and anti-inflammatory reactions. Magnolin targets the active pockets of ERK1 and ERK2, which are important signaling molecules in cancer cell metastasis. Magnolin inhibits NF-κB transactivation activity by suppressing the ERKs/RSK2 signaling pathway. Magnolin inhibits the production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) by inhibiting extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), which are key signaling molecules in the regulation of cell proliferation, transformation and cancer cell metastasis. JB6 Cl41 cell migration enhanced by EGF treatment is dramatically suppressed by Magnolin treatment in a dose-dependent manner. Magnolin inhibits ERK1/2/RSK2 signaling-mediated IκBα phosphorylation at Ser32, resulting in the inhibition of NF-κB activation and cell migration.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 31008-18-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,1,0,0 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 31008-18:
(7*3)+(6*1)+(5*0)+(4*0)+(3*8)+(2*1)+(1*8)=61
61 % 10 = 1
So 31008-18-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

(-)-Magnofargesin and (+)-magnoliadiol, two lignans from Magnolia fargesii

Miyazawa, Mitsuo,Kasahara, Hiroyuki,Kameoka, Hiromu

, p. 531 - 533 (2007/10/03)

Two new lignans, (-)-magnofargesin and (+)-magnoliadiol, were isolated from the flower buds of Magnolia fargesii. The absolute configuration assignment of (-)-magnofargesin was achieved by its isomerization to (+)-magnolin.
