Description

Niobium carbide (NbC) is a refractory compound with the chemical formula NbC. It is a very hard, high-melting-point material that is known for its excellent physical and chemical properties. NbC has a hexagonal crystal structure with lattice parameters a=0.3127 nm and c=0.4972 nm. It is available in various mesh sizes, with a typical particle size of 10μm or less and a purity of 99.5%.

Uses

Used in Metallurgical Industry:
Niobium carbide is used as an additive in the metallurgical industry for its ability to enhance the properties of steel and other alloys. It improves the hardness, wear resistance, and high-temperature strength of the materials, making them suitable for various applications, such as cutting tools, dies, and wear-resistant components.
Used in Ceramic Industry:
In the ceramic industry, NbC is utilized as a sintering aid and a grain growth inhibitor. Its high melting point and excellent chemical stability contribute to the production of advanced ceramics with improved mechanical properties and thermal shock resistance.
Used in Electronics Industry:
Niobium carbide is employed in the electronics industry as a material for high-temperature semiconductor devices and components. Its high electrical conductivity and thermal stability make it an ideal choice for applications requiring high-performance electronic devices that can operate at elevated temperatures.
Used in Aerospace Industry:
The aerospace industry utilizes NbC for its exceptional high-temperature strength and resistance to thermal shock. It is used in the manufacturing of components for jet engines, rocket nozzles, and other high-temperature applications where conventional materials may fail.
Used in Nuclear Industry:
In the nuclear industry, NbC is valued for its excellent neutron absorption properties and high corrosion resistance. It is used as a material for neutron-absorbing control rods and other components in nuclear reactors, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
Used in Abrasives Industry:
Due to its extreme hardness and wear resistance, NbC is used in the abrasives industry for the production of cutting tools, grinding wheels, and other wear-resistant materials. It provides superior performance compared to traditional abrasive materials, extending the service life of the tools and improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 12011-99-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,2,0,1 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 12011-99:
(7*1)+(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*1)+(3*1)+(2*9)+(1*9)=53
53 % 10 = 3
So 12011-99-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
