Nitrone (2) derived from D-glucose oxime and benzaldehyde without employing any protection to hydroxyl groups has been successfully prepared and has been reacted with typical dipolarophiles acrylonitrile, styrene, 4-methylstyrene and N-phenylmaleimide to provide sugar substituted isoxazolidines regiospecifically.
