100332-12-5 Usage
General Description
3-Piperidinemethanol, 4-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-methyl-, (3R,4R)-, also known as Lorcaserin, is a chemical compound used as a weight loss medication. It is a selective serotonin 2C receptor agonist and was approved by the FDA in 2012 for the treatment of obesity. Lorcaserin works by activating the serotonin receptors in the brain, which helps to suppress appetite and promote a feeling of fullness, leading to reduced food intake and subsequent weight loss. However, due to potential safety concerns, including an increased risk of cancer, Lorcaserin was withdrawn from the market in 2020.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 100332-12-5 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,0,0,3,3 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 100332-12:
(8*1)+(7*0)+(6*0)+(5*3)+(4*3)+(3*2)+(2*1)+(1*2)=45
45 % 10 = 5
So 100332-12-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Process for the preparation of optically enriched 4-aryl-3-hydromethyl substituted piperidines to be used as intermediates in the synthesis of paroxetine

, (2008/06/13)
The subject invention pertains to optically-enriched compounds of formula (1), wherein Ar is a C6-20 aryl group; and R1 and R2 are independently H, alkyl or aryl. The subject invention also pertains to method of preparing these compounds. The subject compounds can be prepared by reduction of the corresponding 1,4-dihydropyridine-3-aldehyde, e.g., using hydrogen an a catalyst. The aldehyde can be prepared by hydrolytic cleavage of an aminal obtainable by the reaction of 3-pyridinecarboxaldehyde and a chiral C-2 symmetric diamine, an then stereoselective introduction of the Ar and COOCHR1 R2 groups.
